Self/ Peer Evaluations
1. Erin Brockman- A. I did a majority of the writing for this project, and really tied all the details together after the editing of the video. I also contributed to helping create the over all concept in the beginning.
2. Alex Medvedev-A. Helped create the concept.
3. Berkley Whaley- A. Did a good job acting, partial filming and creating the concept. Overall, basically a great team player and helped with whatever needed to get done.
4. Michael Womack-A. Michael defiantly deserves an A, he did a majority of the filming and was the only one who knew how to edit videos which he did a great job with!
5. Ben Dreiker: A. He came up with the original idea, and really helped it come together. He also played the piano and acted, so over all the video would not have been possible without him.

Process
From the beginning, we knew that we were interested in a creating a video or a short film because we believed this would be the most concise and clear way of including all the themes we have learned. While brainstorming it came to light that Ben is a talented piano player, and he was interested in using this talent to make a strong video. Once we centered the idea around Ben playing the piano and using sounding, many ideas started to flow creating an elaborate theme.

Synopsis
We centered of our video around the ideas of unity, life and death, which we used music to express. The video starts of with Ben walking in the room with the piano, when he reaches the piano he begins to play harmony of the song “Heart and Soul”. After playing alone for a short time, Berkley enters and begins to play the melody. The two playing “Heart and Soul” together is symbolic, showing unity. While playing together the music speeds up and the mood is that of joy, which we believe shows life. After the song concludes, the mood shifts and Berkley leaves the scene. Ben remains alone, playing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony somberly, and then finally ending in an aggressive manor. The scene goes black followed by applause.

Catalogue

Art of Seeing: This is shown during the wide pan from the characters to the room. This shows the environment which setting the mood of the video.

Point of View/ Perspective: We used multiple perspectives through out the film, for example there is a view from the sheet music showing the faces of the players. There are also multiple shots of the players from different angles.

Metaphor: This was first shown in a more obvious fashion using Ben and Berkley’s skin tones of black and white, as well as the black and white keys to show unity. This is shown in a less obvious manor by the unity of “Heart and Souls” harmony and melody.

Multi-frames: Through out the film there is a progression of Ben entering the shot to play the piano, Berkley entering the shot to play with him, and Berkley leaving Ben to play alone.

Framing the Image: This was shown when the frame was cropped just to show Ben’s hands playing the piano.

Reduction Form/ Symbol: This is shown when the camera zooms in on the piano keys, emphasizing their black and white form.

Life and Death: This idea was shown in the music choices. Life is identified with the unity of Berkley and Ben with a happy song, death was identified when Ben played alone with a tragic song.

Sound/ Audio: The use of sound is clear through the video with the use of the piano. We also used applause to signify the end of the video.

"Night in The Library"
This photograph is taken from the perspective of a female student studying in the library at the University of Tampa. We chose this particular subject because spending a night in the library studying or working on an assignment is a perspective that majority of us student have experienced in some fashion. In this particular perspective the student is sitting down, so much of what she views is on the same level. The subject is able to see what is on their table or working space including laptop, books, notebooks, backpack and drink. Beyond their working space the subject is able to see rows of bookshelves, as well as many other students studying at surrounding tables. They're also able to view their own hands from this particular perspective/angle.

Ranking:
1. Wendy & Elizabeth: Very visually appealing, cool editing
2. Berkely & Jesline: Cool idea and story
3. Megan & Stevie: Has a clear story and timeline. Could have manipulated it differently to make it stronger.
4. Kofi & Liz: Visually interesting, however needed explanation.
5. Tara & Frank: Confusing, but when explained clearer to understand. Should have minimized it down to one or two frames.
6. Micaela & Jennifer: Unclear on which project to rank. Both ideas were average and could have been a clearer execution.
7. Conor, Mike & Dominic: Clear idea, but could have shown more of the goalie and goal
8. Peter & Andrea: Good idea, but a little unoriginal and you could tell they really were not behind the counter.
9. Spencer & Ben: Poorly executed. You could tell they really weren't in a kitchen, and that he really wasn't a cook.

Three Frames Project #4

Two Squares, Circles and Triangles Project #3

The lifeguard hut is a combination of multiple squares both in the hut and the railings, as well as triangles in the base of the hut.

The Santa Monica Ferris wheel is a circle, as well as the center of it. The multiple bars in the ferris wheel create triangle shapes through out the circle.

Elements of Art Project #1 Group 2

Movement: The splashing and ripple of the water, as well as the blurriness allows this picture to demonstrate movement.

Unity:the different shapes colors and lines creates a complete piece of art.

Harmony:the multicolored beads all the same shape creates a unique mesh

Emphasis: When looking at these targets the emphasis is on the 10 in the center of the chest, because all the circular shapes lead your eye directly to that spot.

Texture: The tree's bark is textural due to the bumpy and rough feeling.

Proportion: Although in reality the finger and the building are two very different sizes, because of the distance between them they look to be proportional or of scale.

Color: The lights on the building is in fact colorful. It uses secondary colors such as purple and primary colors such as the blue on the far left and red.

Balance: A basketball court is representational of balance because the markings on the court are perfect matches if you were to cut the picture in half.

Line: The way the halls walls are lined up, the floor and ceiling draw your eyes in creating a visible line for your eyes to follow.

Rhythm: The bricks found around UT's campus are an example of rhythm because each brick is the same size and shape, and space between each brick is the same.

Variety: These library books are an example of variety because they are all different/conflicting shapes, colors, width and heights.

Shapes: The mailboxes in the UT post office use many shapes. Each mail box is a vertical rectangle. Inside this rectangle there is then a smaller horizontal rectangle, a square and a circle dial.

Space: The builders of Plant Hall used the element of space when putting the windows in place. Each window is the same size and have an equal amount of space used between each window frame.
